Apple’s 5.5 inch iPhone to be called iPhone 6L
As the next iPhone’s release date gets closer, a few things are starting to take shape, but don’t forget, it’s all rumors, and the latest rumor is that the next iPhone, sorry, the large-screen iPhone will be called iPhone 6L. Apple is expected to release two iPhones in September, a 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch iPhone 6. However, previous reports have indicated that Apple’s 5.5 inch iPhone 6 will be released late due to complications in the manufacture of the massive iPhone.
Now, it’s pretty obvious the 4.7 inch iPhone will be the iPhone 6. Today reports from Hong Kong’s Apple Daily have claimed that the larger iPhone will be called the iPhone 6L. From Android L, now iPhone 6L, this letter “L” is currently the trend huh?! There have also been pictures showing both versions of the iPhone, we managed to obtain one of the claimed photos seen below.
It’s not very clear how the site knew the name, so take the 6L name with caution. Apple Daily claims to have some battery specs, too. The iPhone 6L will pack a 2,915 mAh battery while the 4.7-inch model’s will be 1,810 mAh, according to the report. (By comparison, the iPhone 5S has a 1,560 mAh battery.)
Apart from that there is nothing new but of course the trending rumor has been that the screens of the next iPhones will be almost unbreakable made from Sapphire-crystals. That would probably push the prices of Apple’s smartphones out of the roof. We could also see several delays in production thanks to the complex screens.
