Facebook working on a mobile payment solution for the iPhone
Facebook is apparently working to provide a mobile payments solution which will let friends send money via Facebook Messenger app on the iPhone. Hidden features of the Facebook Messenger app have revealed the plans by Facebook to develop a mobile payments system. Screenshots taken below from the Messenger app on the iPhone indicate a method of adding a credit or debit card to a Facebook account. The screenshots also reveal the ability to send money to friends via messages.
“With Facebook Messenger, you attach money just like you attach a photo or a location,” said Andrew Aude, an iOS developer, security researcher and Stanford University student who discovered the service buried in the current Facebook Messenger iPhone app. “You don’t even have to link a bank account!”
The app may have the PIN function to protect payments which are handled in a similar way to photos and videos on the Facebook Messenger app.
