Google places security guards at its San Francisco bus stop.
They started out with a bus, a bus with custom seats and free Wi-Fi mind you, and now they are getting security perks as well. The presence of this security comes a few weeks after the same buses were the target of protests blaming the tech-industry employees for rising city rents.
Back in December, a Google bus window was broken in Oakland, and images from the scene showed two people carrying a profane anti-Google banner. In the same month, another commuter bus believed to be taking employees to Apple was also targeted.
More on this, there were claims of two men, dressed casually waiting at the bus stop. Well the suspicious bit about them was that while everyone else boarded the bus, the two remained, watching intently. Could these be the security detail? In one instance the bus driver waved to one of them, he waved back.
