HTC One wins triple âphone of the yearâ, âgadget of the yearâ and the âT3 Design Awardâ.
The HTC handset was a big winner at the T3 Gadget Awards, picking up three prizes. The HTC One beat both the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5 to win Phone of the Year, Gadget of the Year and T3 Design Award.
On a very different note, the Taiwanese smartphone maker has experienced some plummeting profits, patent losses against competitors, and as if that wasnât enough three of the companyâs chief executives were arrested for stealing trade secrets.
Well, even under pressure, the hone continues to impress critics. The feat isnât exactly a surprise; it comes after the phone has almost constant high ratings on reviews. This was cemented by the prestigious Phone of the Year award, giving the HTC One bragging rights for the rest of the year.
T3 described the yearâs awards as âthe hardest fought yetâ. The other multiple sinners are, Apple- the Mac Book Air won computer of the year and the iPad Mini got Tablet of the Year. Sony âthe Nex-6 won the Digital Camera prize and the Bravia KD-65X9005A won the TV of the Year.
The other winners worth noting are Google, which bagged the Innovation of the Year for Google Glass, the other being Samsung with Tech Brand of the Year.
One of my favorites though was the Tech Moment of the Year, which went to Felix Baumgartner for his daring skydive from the edge of space a year ago. He broke the sound barrier during his 128,097 feet drop in October last year, falling for a total of four minutes and 19 seconds to land in New Mexico.
The awards werenât entirely handed out to gadgets as some humans managed to get them. The inaugural T3 Tech Legend award went to Chris Anderson, and Michael Acton Smith got the Outstanding Contribution to Tech award.
