Twitter tests a larger, Facebook style photo based profile.

Twitter is reportedly testing an all-inclusive pictorial redesign of its profile page.  The new profiles according to Mashable, will feature a huge profile picture on the left, on top of an expansive cover photo (just like Facebook). The follower and tweet accounts fall just next to the profile pic to the right.

The tweets will be viewed as tiles, with a few highlighted photos and videos, something close to what you get on Google+. The test feature didn’t make its way to all users and there’s no word if the larger profile will get the green light, however what we do know is that Twitter is keen to dump its famous vertical stream layout.

This comes at a time when Facebook just recently switched to a vertical stream timeline. I guess Twitter is now looking for new ways to engage people who are new to the service.
